Uber Driver Causes Fatal Accident at the Intersection of Kelly Drive and Reservoir Drive
A 41-year-old Uber passenger was killed after the driver made an illegal left turn into oncoming traffic in Philadelphia Thursday. The collision occurred at Kelly Drive and Reservoir Drive near the Strawberry Mansion Bridge, which temporarily closed the road.
According to Philadelphia police, the crash involved an Uber driver’s Nissan Altima, a Nissan Rouge, and a BMW sedan. Authorities said the Uber driver was traveling southbound on Kelly Drive when he made an illegal left turn onto Reservoir Drive and into northbound traffic, where the Nissan Rouge struck it. According to police, the Uber vehicle spun and struck the BMW while entering Kelly Drive.
The Uber passenger was transported to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and treated for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported. The crash is under investigation.
